According to national dietary guidelines, the recommended daily carbohydrate intake should cover 45%-65% of total energy intake. Less amount can lead to reduced energy levels.
If, during the day someone consumes 2000 calories, 900-1300 calories should come from the consumption of carbohydrates. This number corresponds to 225-335 g. starchy foods such as bread, rice, potatoes, cereals and starchy vegetables.
As for the other long-term components, protein should make up 15%-20% of daily calories and fat 20%-35%.
